Government delivers two warships to F-FDTL
The Government of Timor-Leste, through the State Secretariat of Defense, delivered, on November 22nd, 2013, two warships to Falintil-Defense Forces of Timor-Leste (F-FDTL)
The Secretary of State for Defense, Júlio Tomás Pinto, thanked the Chinese Government for the support provided to the naval component of the armed forces of Timor-Leste. He also thanked the other countries for the material support and human resources’ capacity building they have been providing to F-FDTL.
Júlio Tomás Pinto made it known that the naval component will be using the warships to ensure the protection of natural resources in the maritime territory of Timor-Leste, adding that the responsibility for the ships’ maintenance is entitled to the Government.
The Chief of Staff of the F-FDTL, Major-General Lere Anan Timur highlighted that “the Naval Component receives another huge responsibility, in the Institution of F-FDTL, for the ships that it has received and which are the property of the State.”
Besides from the Secretary of State for Defense and the Chief of Staff of the F-DFTL, also taking part in the ship awarding ceremony were the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, the Chaplain Priest of the F-FDTL, the Director of the National Institute of Defense (NID), and the entire naval component.
