MoE receives land from the Lospalos community
The community of the 30th of August village, which belongs to the suco of Fuiloro, sub district of Lospalos, district of Lautém, handed over a 10 hectare land to the Ministry of Education, with the objective to construct the Polytechnic School of Tourism, Hotels and Hospitality. The declaration was delivered by the administrator of the Lautém District, Zeferino dos Santos Sequeira, on August 28th, at the Lautém Education hall.
In this joint declaration, which included the lia-na’in (Lord of the word) and the head of the suco of Fuiloro, both praised the Government’s plan, through the Directorate of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, which promoted the approach of the community of the Suco of Fuiloro, even before the construction of this project.
The land given belongs to the community of the suco of Fuiloro who witnesses, at the same time, the cession of the land benefiting all the children of Los Palos, but also, and in the future, all young Timorese.
The community guaranties that there won’t be any impediment or misunderstanding during the entire construction process of this polytechnic school, since they understand this action as being the same as, for example, the future Town Hall of the Lautém district.
After the awarding ceremony, the Vice Minister of Higher Education, Marçal Avelino Ximenes, highlighted that “up to its construction in 2016, the Government will carry out a feasibility study and prepare a budget estimate for this project.
The Ministry of Education has budget for the feasibility study, but still doesn’t have budget available for the construction of the Polytechnic School. The result of the feasibility study will be proposed in the development plan and taken to the National Parliament for approval.
Besides the feasibility study, the Ministry of Education is already preparing the human resources, to fulfil the criteria for the construction of the Polytechnic School of Tourism, Hotels and Hospitality.
