Students began the 2013 national exams

On September 2nd, 37,919 students spread throughout the country, started their national exams for the 2013 academic year, which ends on September 4th .

At a press conference, held on August 29th , at the Ministry of Education, and in the presence of  the 13 district national directors, the Minister of Education, Bendito Freitas, reported that there are in total 20,811 primary education students (of which 10,263 are males and 10,548 are females), 14,956 secondary education students undergoing examination (of which 7,267 are males and 7,689 are females) and 2,152 vocational technical education students (of which 1,315 are males and 837are females).

"This year, a new digital method for correcting the tests is going to be used, which should ensure a fair allocation of grades to the students.  The correction of all tests will take place at the National Directory of Curricula at the Ministry of Education in Dili, " explained  Bendito Freitas.

The Minister of Education asked the district directors to provide for the safe distribution of exam materials, so as to avoid failures on the way, prior to the arrival at their destination. The materials for the national exams are the nation's important documents.

The Government  maintains its trust in the National Printing House, to print the materials for the national exams, for the 2013 academic year.
