On June 20th, the Secretary of State for Local Development, Samuel Mendonça, announced the Integrated District Development Planning program (IDDP) results, for the Liquiçá district.

Samuel Mendonça, who was accompanied by the Director General for Local Development and Coordinator of the Commission for the Development of the Liquiçá District, Miguel de Carvalho, informed that "this program did not follow the tender process; it was subject to a direct contract award, which is the specific supply process under the IDDP, and has been the process followed by the VEST (Verification, Evaluation and Supervision Team). This team analyses companies across the country. Then it forwards a classification of the companies by category, A, B, C and D, to the Committee for District Development  (CDD). It then publishes a notice for five days, to give the evaluated companies a chance to claim the attributed scores. At the end of this period, the CDD grants the projects to the selected companies and the VEST becomes responsible for overseeing their work. Today, companies are receiving information on the projects they are awarded in the Liquiçá district, and will sign contracts for the 2013 fiscal year . 35 companies have been selected. "

The Secretary of State for Local Development asked the businessmen to work responsibly as partners with the local Government, for the development of the country, and with a perspective into the future. Samuel Mendonça congratulated the District Administrator, the Suco Chiefs, and the team that is working on this program; in recognizing that the implementation of any project requires approval from the Suco Chiefs, who are the local authority, he asked them to cooperate with the businessmen.

The Liquiçá District Administrator, Domingos da Conceição dos Santos, asked the Liquiçá businessmen to work responsibly, by complying with the rules and taking into account the development of the district.
