XVIII Meeting of the Council of Ministers of CPLP
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, José Luís Guterres, participated in the XVIII Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), which was held on July 18 in Maputo.
"The CPLP and the challenges of the future" was the theme for this meeting, which brought together the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Member States of CPLP. The meeting addressed issues such as the representation of CPLP in Dili, political developments in Guinea-Bissau and the attempt to find solutions for its stability were also discussed as well as the adhesion of Equatorial Guinea to CPLP''.
According to José Luís Guterres, the meeting was "a success. CPLP took important decisions about Guinea-Bissau, especially regarding political developments. CPLP remains committed to finding solutions that will lead, within the shortest possible time, to the stabilization of the country and the return of democratic stability. "
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Mozambique, Oldemiro Baloi, and was attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Angola, the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Republic of Cape Verde, Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Principe, Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Portuguese Republic and the Executive Secretary of CPLP.
The Council of Ministers of CPLP was preceded by the 164th Session of the Standing Committee for Consultation, on July 16, and the XXVII Meeting of the Focal Points for Cooperation on 11 and 12 July.
