Government signs an agreement with The Asia Fundation
On the 7th of June, 2013, the Minister for State Administration, Jorge da Conceição Teme, and the representative from The Asia Fundation, Dr. Susan Marx Country, signed a memorandum of understanding, in the meeting hall of the Ministry of State Administration, in Caicoli, Díli, on the research of the services provided by the Counsel of Sucos.
Based on this agreement, the Asia Fundation will support the Ministry of State Administration in collecting information during this term, about the way the Suco Councils operate, and evaluate their relationship and impact within the communities, in order to make adjustments to the current legal framework of the community leaderships, towards the aspirations of the communities and the decentralization process.
The Minister for State Administration stressed that "this agreement comes within the scope of the project which has already been implemented, but needs improvement, to benefit the country and the people, making the best use of perspectives, ideas and contributions from the community leaders, which may help development ".
Participating in the ceremony were the Minister for State Administration, Jorge da Conceição Teme, the Secretary of State for Administrative Decentralization, Tomás Cabral, as well as the representative from The Asia Fundation, Susan Marx Country, General and National Directors, national and international Advisors.
