On May 30th, the Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, inaugurated the new Comoro Bridge, which is seven meters wide and 183 meters long.

At the inauguration ceremony of this new bridge in the capital of Timor-Leste, the Head of the Government said, "We are pleased that we have found a solution to the problem of the Comoro Bridge. The Timorese National Consortium (TNC) and the Wika Company have done a good job. I ask the TNC to make the effort of implementing these types of constructions by themselves".

The Prime Minister extended this appeal to the population, by encouraging development, but at the same time criticizing those who "do not want to work and only sit in front of the television smoking, while our Indonesian friends are doing the work. In this way, we are not going to make progresses.  When Wika started this job, despite having a very short time frame, and having faced very bad weather, they continued to work. We are now going to repair the other part of the bridge. However, we also need to concentrate ourselves on other projects, which are equally important to our development. I therefore ask for a strong commitment from Wika and the TNC. I am also asking the community of Comoro to commit itself in the country's development".

The President of the TNC, Jorge Serrano, explained that, although this work was not carried out exclusively by us, and considering the partnership, we have already achieved results which show what the Timorese flag stands for. As Timorese, we all must make our contribution to our country".
