Community Awareness “Free from Trash”
Following the 11th Anniversary’s celebration of Timor-Leste’s Restoration of Independence, on May 20th, 2013, the Minister of State Administration, Jorge da Conceição Teme, organized the Community Awareness action “Free from Trash”, at Delta-2 Neighbourhood – Comoro, Dili.
At the opening session, the President of the Republic, Taur Matan Ruak, congratulated the community of Delta-2 Neighbourhood, saying that this neighbourhood sets a good example to the country.
“Congratulations to Delta-2 Neighbourhood. Congratulations for this important action, which might not be possible everywhere”, stated President Taur Matan Ruak, highlighting that “security is essential. As everybody knows, I consider security as a priority issue. Security allows a person to live peacefully and quietly, in harmony, thinking about her life, about children’s studies, about raising a family, even in the country’s building and progress. This can only be achieved through security”.
The Minister of State Administration, Jorge da Conceição Teme, emphasized that “this program’s goal is to make community aware of the way citizens should live in the city. The program was launched thanks to the collaboration of neighbourhood leaders, village leaders, heads of suco, district and subdistrict administrators”.
Present at the ceremony were the Secretary of State for Environment, Nomiando Soares, the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports, Miguel Marques Manetelo, the representative of the National Police of Timor Leste, the Dili’s district Administrator, Comoro’s Head of suco and Fomento’s Head of village.
