Ministry of Tourism organizes Artistic Caravan
The V Constitutional Government, through the Ministry of Tourism, organized an artistic caravan under the theme: “Tomorrow starts today”, last May 26th, in Dili. The caravan left from Taci-Tolu heading to the Government’s Palace.
Under the celebrations of the 11th Anniversary of Timor-Leste’s Restoration of Independence, this event aimed to promote youth’s talent and encourage them to participate, more actively, in the development of the country and of the national culture, using their talent as a touristic attraction.
“I see this activity as an important factor for the development and the tourism”, commented the First Lady, Isabel Ferreira, at the caravan’s opening ceremony.
“I’m glad to see all citizens, civil society, government institutions and Embassies, who, enthusiastically, participate at this event. This caravan is an opportunity to promote artistic creativity that contributes to tourism’s development in the country and for young people to express their artistic value and voluntariness spirit, solidarity and tolerance”, concluded the First Lady.
The winner, in the category “original culture”, was the district of Viqueque, in second place was the district of Manatuto, and, in third place, Bobonaro. In the category of modern culture, Santo António’s Group got first place, ETDA was second, and Milenium Timor was third.
Present at the ceremony were: the Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, the First Lady, Isabel Ferreira, Parliament Members, Government Members, representatives of 13 districts, the Indonesian Ambassador, Harley Davidson’s Motorcyclists Association, from Indonesia, and Timor-Leste’s JEEP Motoring.
