Timor-Leste and Portugal strengthen bilateral cooperation
The Minister of State and of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, José Luis Guterres, met in Lisbon, Portugal, with his counterpart, Paulo Portas, last May 16th.
José Luis Guterres said that “the aim of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation between both countries, in different areas, especially in Education, in which we reviewed the issue of the presence of Portuguese language teachers in Timor-Leste. Portugal has also shown a lot of interest in establishing relationships with our neighbour countries, Australia and Indonesia”.
“Portugal guaranteed that it will strengthen cooperation with Timor-Leste and reaffirmed its solidarity and fraternity to the People and the State of Timor-Leste”, concluded the Minister.
At this meeting, it was also addressed the question of the future installation of Portugal’s Embassy in Timor-Leste.
