Handover of UNMIT assets to Government

As part of UNMIT transition plan and its closure shortly, another handover took place on 19 April 2013, at Asset National Directorate.

The assets that were handed over to the Government of Timor-Leste consisted of 3 warehouses, 21 cars, 1 forklift and 550 IBM computers and printers and a number of communication equipments.

The representative of UNMIT, Mr. Lourenço Alves stated that this was not the last handover because the last will be made on 24 June 2013. On that time there will be 10 vehicles, some sets of medical equipments, and other assets relating to Serious Crime Unit to be handed over to the Government of Timor-Leste.

Mr. Alves expressed his gratitude to the Government of Timor-Leste, in particular the National Directorate for Assets management for the close cooperation between the two agencies so that a series of handovers of UNMIT Assets since the first time to date have been made successfully.

The Director of Asset Directorate, Ms Evangelina Guterres, who represented Ministry of Finance and Government of Timor-Leste in her turn appreciated UNMIT for this handover of Assets to the Government of Timor-Leste, in particular for having kept and taken care of these assets in the UNMIT warehouse until this time.

After this brief ceremony the representatives from both sides took a site inspection together to the assets to ascertain their actual condition before they were received by the Government.
