"Union as a strategic to achieve victory towards development"

The Government of Timor-Leste commemorated, in Luak, Manufahi, on November 28th, 2012, the 37th Anniversary of Timor-Leste’s Proclamation of Independence and the Centenary of Dom Boaventura’s Uprising.
The President of the Republic, Taur Matan Ruak, highlighted in his speech: “our unity in the past represented the strategic condition for victory and for national independence’s restoration. Today, it still is a strategic point towards success, considering the national goal of construction of a near future, not only for us but also for the country. The moment has arrived for us to give a meaning to the independence we achieved, by guaranteeing security and well-being to the people through serious efforts towards the country’s development”.
Taur Matan Ruak asked the population not to stay idle watching the country’s development, even stating that they are the authors and the responsible for the development process for the community. He recalled that citizens and civil society need justice to take good advantage of the resources available in the country for a balanced and fair sharing of goods.
“We need to know how to cooperate with dynamism and sacrifice, trying to use the country’s wealth in a profitable way, to better develop its economy, eradicating poverty and building a countryfull of peace and well-being”, insisted the President of the Republic.
The commemoration of the 37th Anniversary of Timor-Leste’s Proclamation of Independenceand the Centenary of Dom Boaventura’s Uprising was fulfilled by the unveiling of a statue in his honor, in Luak, Same, by the President of the Republic who, at the same time, honored José Gonçalves Lobato, Nicolau Lobato’s eldest son, with Dom Boaventura’s Medal..
Taking part on the ceremony, apart from the President of the Republic and his wife, were the President of the National Parliament, Vicente Guterres; the Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão; the President of the Court of Appeal, Cláudio Ximenes; the President of the Republic of Cape Verde, Jorge Fonseca; the Minister of Justice of Cape Verde, José Carlos Correia; members of parliament; former members; Government members; general directors and population from the 13 districts.
