SoSPE celebrates the National Women's Day in Atabae’s subdistrict

The Secretariat of State for the Promotion of Equality (SoSPE) commemorates the National Timorese Women’s Day, in the subdistrict of Atabae, district of Bobonaro, under the theme “Women’s Participation during the Period of Resistance and Independence.”

Present at the event, the Vice Prime Minister, Fernando La Sama de Araújo, greeted Timorese women and honoured “our hero, Maria Tap, whose birthdate we chose as the National Timorese Women's Day. Today, we must think about independence. It’s precious and difficult to us, but we have the moral obligation to fulfil our heroes’ dream: the independence of Timor-Leste, thus contributing for this country’s development.”

The Secretary of State for the Promotion of Equality, Idelta Maria Rodrigues, reminded, “SSPE celebrates this day annually, aiming to recognize and valorise our Maria Tapo’s contribution in the struggle for the country’s liberation. I ask everyone here, to seek to know what she did, so today’s generation may continue her work towards the development of the country.”

Present at the event were the Vice Prime Minister, Fernando La Sama de Araújo, the Secretary of State for the Promotion of Equality, Idelta Maria Rodrigues, the Vice Minister for Social Solidarity (VMSS), Jacinto Rigoberto, the Secretary of State for Land and Property, Jaime Xavier Lopes, the Member of Parliament Mateus de Jesus, the Director General of the SSPTEP, the Bobonaro’s district Deputy Administrator, the subdistrict Administrator and the heads of Suco.
