The Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Transport and Communications organized, last October 29th, at the Dili Conventions Centre, a national conference on infrastructure.

Gastão Sousa, Minister of Public Works, said “This event is an important step for both the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Transport and Communications, since they share information with the development partners about the ministries’ plan aiming to implement the Constitutional Government’s program for the next five years (2012-2017), turning it into concrete actions”.

“In this conference, we are going to explain clearly what we are going to do during the next five years. We would also like you to submit your suggestions on our plans”, he added.

Flávio Cardoso Neves, Vice Minister of Transport and Communications, spoke about the three programs being implemented during the next five years: maritime ports, airports and telecommunications, being these areas strictly connected to national and international economy and to Timor-Leste’s development.

Present at the ceremony were: the Vice Prime Minister, Fernando La Sama de Araújo; the Minister of Public Works, Gastão Sousa; the Vice Minister for Transport and Communications, Flávio Cardoso Neves; members of the Diplomatic Corps such as the Ambassadors of Portugal and Japan; representatives of the development partners, of civil society, of private sector and of multilateral and bilateral agencies, JICA, AUSAID and ADB, amongst others.
