Commemoration of the International Day of the Cooperatives

On October 15th and 16th, on the commemoration of the International Day of the Cooperatives, held at the Dili Convention Centre, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Environment, António da Conceição spoke at the first seminar, about the theme, "Role of the Cooperatives and National Economic Development of Timor-Leste".

António da Conceição, said, "in the program of the V Constitutional Government, there are also priorities set for the cooperatives, because this sector is a very important pillar, which can generate self-employment for young women, especially for populations in rural areas. The activities in the cooperatives are a way of bringing together the resources of the people."

"This Government has made available financial resources, to encourage the development of cooperatives and to facilitate the human resources training of its own members, thus actually playing the roles of leaders of the cooperatives themselves, namely in administration and management," added the Minister.

This event was attended by the Vice Prime Minister, Fernando La Sama de Araújo, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Environment, António da Conceição, the President of the Civil Service Commission, Libório Pereira, the Vice Minister of Commerce, Industry and Environment, Abel da Costa Ximenes, the Secretary of State for Trade, Ricardo Cardoso Nheu, the Secretary of State for Industry and Cooperatives, Filipus Pereira and Cooperative Groups from the 13 districts.
