SoSSPPS inaugurates Maurusa’s Bamboo Centre, in the district of Aileu

The Secretary of State for the Support and Promotion of the Private Sector (SoSSPPS), Veneranda Lemos, inaugurated last October 11th, the Bamboo Centre, in the village of Maurusa, Malere’s suco, district of Aileu.

Veneranda Lemos stated “the Government, through the State Secretariat for the Support and Promotion of the Private Sector, considers important the development of the Bamboo Centre, as an objects’ production source whose raw material is made of bamboo, to develop and improve the economy in rural areas’ communities. The cooperation between the Government and the community, through this Centre, allows us to start immediately implementing the 5th Constitutional Government’s plan, on what concerns to the strengthening of the private sector”.

The Secretary of State further added, that in the future the Bamboo Centre will be transformed into a public company, as a way of guaranteeing its sustainability and feasibility and to be able to contribute to the well-being and economic growth of the populations in rural areas. For this purpose, it will be raised, later this year, a national campaign on bamboo planting in order to inform the population of Timor-Leste on the benefits of its planting.

Present at the ceremony, apart from the Secretary of State for the Support and Promotion of the Private Sector, were the Secretary of State of the Council of Ministers, Avelino Coelho, the Head of Malere’s suco, Jacinto Dias and the community of the village of Maurusa.
