MoFA met with the Ambassadors and representatives of the CPLP countries

On April 26, 2012 the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zacarias Albano da Costa, met with Ambassadors and representatives of the CPLP countries in Brussels.

Zacarias Albano da Costa expressed his thanks for "the support that the CPLP countries have given to Timor-Leste” and he also pointed out that Timor-Leste intends to take over the presidency of the CPLP in 2014".

During the meeting the Minister of Foreign Affairs also spoke of political, economic and social development issues, the success of the presidential elections, the accession of Timor-Leste to ASEAN, as well as about the preparations for the upcoming legislative elections and the end of the UNMIT mission mandate in December 2012".

The representatives of the CPLP countries attending the meeting congratulated the Government and People of Timor-Leste for the positive development and success that Timor-Leste has achieved to date. The Ambassador of São Tome and Principe, Carlos Gustavo dos Anjos, also said: "I congratulate Timor-Leste on the progress of internal development, its level of economic growth and the stability felt in the country".

At this meeting representatives from Brazil, Mozambique, São Tome and Principe, Guinea-Bissau, Portugal, Cape Verde and Angola were present in addition to the Ambassador of Timor-Leste for Belgium, Germany and the UK, Nelson dos Santos, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Chief of Staff, Emanuel Tilman and the First Secretary and Regional Director of the Embassy of Timor-Leste in Brussels, Fulgêncio Corbafo.

During this two-day visit to Brussels Timor-Leste’s Minister of Foreign Affairs also attended the launching ceremony of the book "For Timor: Memoirs of Ten Years of Independence" in the European Parliament and an exhibition on Timor-Leste.
