Government inaugurates building of the Ministry of Defense and Security and the F-FDTL Headquarters

On Tuesday, April 3, 2012, the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Security, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, inaugurated the new building of the Ministry of Defense and Security and F-FDTL Headquarters in Fatuhada, Dili.
During his speech, Xanana Gusmão said: "I have said it before and I repeat it now, we can not require State institutions to perform their duties with professionalism when we did not offer them appropriate conditions. The Secretary of State of Defense and the F-FDTL Headquarters has occupied very limited space since the beginning, and our military especially did not have decent conditions. Therefore, this ceremony is of great importance and as the Head of Government and Minister for Defense and Security, I am proud to have fulfilled my duty".
"For all who work here, I call on you to hold the building in high esteem and look after the proper maintenance of it to avoid damage", added the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Security.
On the same occasion, the Ambassador of China in Timor-Leste, Tiang Guang Feng, upheld his support, for the development process of Timor-Leste on behalf of the Government of China.
Major General Lere Anan Timur, in turn, thanked the Chinese Government for the support provided to the development of F-FDTL through the construction of the building that in his opinion ought to reduce the difficulties they have faced.
Participating in the ceremony were the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Security, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, the President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta, the President of the National Parliament, Fernando Lasama de Araújo, the Attorney General, Ana Pessoa the Ambassador of China in Timor-Leste, Tiang Guang Feng, members of the Government and the National Parliament and representatives of the Diplomatic Corps.
