MoFA receives Mozambican counterpart

On Monday April 9 the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zacarias Albano da Costa, received his Mozambican counterpart, Oldemiro Balói, who was on a three-day official visit to Timor-Leste.
At a press conference, Zacarias Albano de Costa highlighted the friendship between the two countries: "Mozambique and Timor-Leste are bound by historical and affective ties. Many of our leaders had the opportunity to live, study and work in Mozambique, and experienced the warmth, friendship, support and solidarity that the Government and people of Mozambique have given to our country. Today we are at a different stage but it is important to further revisit and reinforce the relations of friendship and fraternity that unite us".
Oldemiro Balói also made reference to the relations of friendship between the two countries: "Our friendship ties are very valuable. As Minister Zacarias said, they are historical relations! A deep history: we suffered together, fought together, won together and today we build our countries together, and together we give our contributions to a better world!"
During the bilateral meeting, it was agreed upon to establish a joint commission for cooperation between the two countries.
"So in a very short period of time, I hope that our senior officials can work in order to sign an agreement for the establishment of this joint commission of cooperation", said Minister Zacarias Albano da Costa, adding other areas of emphasis that were discussed: "We agree to consolidate cooperation in the areas of Education and Justice.
We aim to exchange experiences especially in the area of mineral resources exploitation, particularly oil and gas. We will also sign a protocol for regular consultations at the political and diplomatic level and also in the multilateral area".
