MED and GNR sign Memorandum of Understanding
The Ministry of Economy and Development and sub-group Bravo from the National Republican Guard (GNR) from Portugal signed, on March 1 at the GNR Headquarters, a Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of a new "pilot project" for the training and development of technical staff.
This Memorandum of Understanding aims to develop a cooperation "pilot project" in the field of professional training and the creation of micro-businesses and cooperatives, in order to involve young people of Timor-Leste and promote entrepreneurship and poverty reduction, while contributing to sustainable economic development.
This "pilot project" aims to assist graduates of Tibar Professional Center, which provides specialised technical training in areas such as carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, to enter the labour market.
The National Center for Employment and Professional Training, the Secretariat of State for Professional Training and Employment, confirms that the trainees must attend the training with the aim of promoting the empowerment of young people in areas essential to the sustainability of the economy and where demand is growing.
The National Republican Guard will provide access their workshops and their "know how" to promote the technical training of Timorese youth, contributing to their integration in society.
The MoU was signed by Minister of Economy and Development, João Mendes Gonçalves, and by the Captain João Almeida Martinho of the sub-group Bravo of GNR.
