Inaugurated the Integrated Border Post and the Batugade Traditional Border Market

The President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta, the Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, the Minister of Tourism, Commerce and Industry, Gil Alves and the Vice Minister of Finance, Rui Manuel Hanjam inaugurated the integrated post and the traditional market built on the border of Batugade, Balibo sub-district in the Bobonaro district, on February 4.
The Vice Minister of Finance, Rui Manuel Hanjam, highlighted in his speech that "the inauguration of the integrated border station and the traditional market, is a sign of progress and efficiency in controlling the border area and makes the connection between the line ministries and institutions to ensure customer service improvement at the border".
"The integrated posts will allow tourists and traders moving in accordance with the formal arrival and departure procedures of the country, in a friendly and modern environment, providing a warm welcoming image to all who cross the border of Timor-Leste. Moreover, it allows the civil servants that perform their duties to do so in a dignified and appropriate environment", said the Vice-Minister.
In conclusion, Rui Manuel Hanjam also said that "we have installed computer equipment with modern technology for surveillance and security, including computers, internet and an X-ray machine to ensure the smooth functioning and efficient supervision and control of goods and people who pass through the border".
