National Firefighter’s Second Commanders take office
The Second Commanders of the National Firefighter Service for the Districts of Díli, Baucau and Manufahi took office on 20 December, at the building of the National Directorate for Civil Protection, in Díli.
The National Director of Civil Protection, Domingos Pinto, explained that Firefighters are still not regulated for issues such as parity, currency or wage rate relative to what is established by the Civil Service, "but we expect to create a statute for firefighters which will then be discussed internally between the Secretary of State for Security and Civil Service Commission".
The Secretary of State for Security, Francisco Guterres, guaranteed that the development process of Firefighters in Timor-Leste is underway and takes into account the needs of the country, especially the direct support that it provides to the most urgent needs of the community. "I ask you to continue to work with dedication and professionalism, because the People has complete confidence in you", urged the Secretary of State at the ceremony of the inauguration of the Second Commander of the National Firefighting Service.
