Ministry of Health held a workshop on the Strategic Plan for the National Institute of Health
The Ministry of Health conducted a one-day workshop on the Strategic Plan of the National Institute of Health (NIH) for 2011-2015 in order to cope with the transition phase of the Institute of Health Sciences (IHS) into the National Institute of Health, in accordance with the Decree-Law No. 9 / 2011.
The jurisdiction of the NIH, according to this Decree Law, is to "develop and provide coninuos training to health professionals, according to the policy that was defined by the Ministry of Health, ensuring the quality and qualifications of health professionals and creating cooperation agreements with other training institutes to train them" said the director-general of the Ministry of Health, Agapito da Silva Soares.
The director-general also added that "in the transition period from IHS, UNICEF will provide support, in 2011, in terms of development and implementation of practice for midwives". This support is provided by trainers who are part of the training module developed by the midwives in the reference hospitals.
In this workshop, UNICEF presented a car to the Ministry of Health to provide support to the Mother and Children Service Care in Timor-Leste.
