The Secretary of State for Professional Training and Employment, Bendito Freitas, opened on November 5, a rural road  and inspected the work labour in the Vemasse sub-district, Baucau district.

The inaugurated road, whose project started in January 2011 and ended in March of that year, has a length of 6 km and connects the national road and the old Kai-Kua suco in the Vemasse sub-district, Baucau district.

On the same day, the Secretary of State took the opportunity to inspect the manpower work of the rural road (3 km) that connects the village of Kai-Kua and Bahamori. This project began in August 2011 and is expected to be completed in November this year.

The Secretary of State Bendito Freitas said that "the result of the manpower work has clearly demonstrated that the process of rural development exists and as we know, infrastructure such as roads becomes a concern in rural communities across Timor-Leste".

Bendito Freitas further reinforced that the main objective of the rural road is to facilitate transportation of the rural communities’ products to the market and at the same time allow for the access to education, health and justice services.

On the same occasion, the administrator of the Vemasse sub-district, Tomás Francisco da Costa Freitas, on behalf of the Vemasse people, thanked the visit of the Secretary of State for Professional Training and Employment and asked for the continued attention, in 2012, to rural roads in the suco Kai-Kua and Osowala.
