TL- EITI Team holds a socialization activity in the districts, on the second report

The Secretariat of State for Natural Resources, through the TL- EITI Task Team, Timor-Leste - Transparency Initiative Extractive Industries (composed by the Government, civil society and oil companies), held on October 14 a regional workshop to release the second report of the TL-EITI. This initiative took place in Region III (Bobonaro), which includes the districts of Bobonaro, Ermera and Liquiça.

The dissemination of this report is intended so that all Timorese society can understand and be informed about the process of EITI implementation and the substance of the report. It also helps to raise the level of knowledge and intellectual capacity on the transparency and accountability of activities related to the petroleum fund, gas and minerals.

The Secretary of State for Natural Resources Alfredo Pires, said that "all levels of society need to be informed about the process of implementation of the EITI in Timor-Leste, including the content of the report since this confirms a sound financial and coherent system, showing no deviation of any value".

The TL-EITI second report consists of the total taxes received from each company and its name, the total of the first tranche of the oil and their profits (production sharing contract), and also includes the names of other companies and operators and the payment, received by the Government, of the licenses and enforcement, among others.

The dissemination workshop of the second report takes place in four regions: region I, Baucau district (comprising the districts of Baucau, Lautem, Viqueque and Manatuto) held on October 7, region II Covalima district (composed of the districts of Aileu, Manufahi, Ainaro and Covalima) held on September 30, and finally region IV (comprising the district of Oe-Cusse Ambeno) to be held at the beginning of November this year.
