On October 5, the President of the National Parliament, Fernando Lasama de Araújo, accompanied by Secretary of State for Youth and Sport, Miguel Manetelo, were at the farewell ceremony of the Timorese athletes leaving for Indonesia to train during one month, for the 26th Sea Games, which will take place from November 11 to 22 in Indonesia.

The athletes will compete in twelve sport modalities: taekwondo (8 athletes), karate (9), table tennis (5), silat (13), badminton (5), boxing (8), weightlifting (4), volleyball (7), athletics (9), soccer (14), cycling (5) and kempo (16).

The Secretary of State for Youth and Sports has called on athletes to dedicate themselves to this month of preparation in order to obtain good results during the Sea Games event.

The President of the National Parliament did not hesitate to call upon the concentration of the athletes in the competition, so they can win medals for Timor-Leste, but whether they do or not, Fernando Lasama de Araújo said that this should be done with dignity, as ambassadors of Timor-Leste and representatives of the Timorese People at this event, and therefore should always behave with discipline, from training to the actual competition at the Sea Games.

António Manuel, kempo athlete, and on behalf of his colleagues, promised to make the best of the training abroad with the goal of winning medals for Timor-Leste.
