The Secretary of State for the Promotion of Equality (SoSPE) and the political parties’ women's organizations , established a few cooperations with Civil Society, Association Hak, Rede Feto, Alola Foundation and  Caucus, and met at the Delta Nova Salon, in Dili, on the 22 September. This meeting aimed at preparing women from the political parties and civil organizations for the 2012 elections, and the theme was "Together we can and gain strength, I can, you can, we can".

"This meeting is very important because we want to give continuity to the previous meetings, at the national and district levels, where the heads of the Suco and the Suco Councils met. SoSPE intends to reinforce the ideas and recommendations in order to find a platform on the lives of women in politics, for the year 2012, "said Secretary of State for the Promotion of Equality, Idelta Rodrigues.

Idelta further noted that "with the rise of political parties, the issue of gender equality should be considered in each party program. That is why this platform is important, because it was established by the twenty-two representatives of the political parties. Thus, it was possible to distinguish the relevance of the priorities in previous years, relative to its applicability this year, and to draw conclusions about the need to use a single platform for the years 2012-2017".

"The issues placed on the 2007 platform were mainly in seven or eight areas: justice and security, the method of empowering women in the economy, education, politics, culture, media and the method that allows for their access to health and especially the issue of justice and how it can be seen in the future. It was therefore necessary to review these areas", said the Secretary of State.

This meeting was attended by the Vice Minister of Health, Madalena Hanjam, the political parties’ women's representative, observers from the CNE, JSMP, CPJTL, Hak Association, NGO Forum, UNEST, UNMIT Democratic Governance Support Unit, UN WOMEN, IRI, TAF and  PIO UNMIT.
