Timor-Leste’s Minister of Defence and Security receives the Minister of Defence from Guinea-Bissau
On the 23rd August, Xanana Gusmão, the Prime Minister and Minister of Defence and Security ,received the Minister of Defense and of the Freedom Fighters of the Nation of Guinea-Bissau, Ocante da Silva, at the Government Palace.
This meeting between the two Defense Ministers aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries, since there is the possibility of deepening the relations in sectors that are currently under review so that it may enhance the possibilities for collaboration and at the same time contribute to strengthening the friendship between both people.
According to Ocante da Silva "Timor-Leste and Guinea-Bissau have maintained excellent relations, both at the bilateral level or within the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), so despite the geographical distance that separates us, there is room so that we can jointly explore and develop significant areas of cooperation between both countries. "
In addition to this issues, which was the fundamental theme of the conversation between the two leaders, the Minister of Defence of Guinea-Bissau wanted to convey to the Minister of Defence and Security, and Prime Minister, all the support and solidarity in the consolidation of the peace process in Timor-Leste and the promotion of the country’s development.
