The Regulatory Commission for Martial Arts (CRAM), established by Law No 10/2008 of July 16, opened a Regulatory Sub-Committee for Martial Arts in the Baucau district. Through the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports, Miguel Manetelo, five members of the Sub-Committee were inducted on August 5th, including the Pastor of Baucau, Justiniano de Sousa, who was elected as its president.
The other members inducted are: Sérgio Gusmão Belo as Vice President, and current president of the FESTIL in the Baucau district, Justiniano Monteiro from the Ministry of Justice, Rui Manuel Belo from the Ministry of Education and Virgílio Pereira from the Kunfu Master Organization.
According to the President of the Regulatory Commission of Martial Arts, Firmino Dias Quintas, the members of the Sub-Commission are responsible for discussing issues related to training, learning and implementation of martial arts, issue opinions or request permission to build centers, clubs and courses for martial arts training, and ratification of the election of the person responsible for monitoring various types of more relevant activities.
In this ceremony, Manetelo said that the promotion, teaching and learning of martial arts should be done in accordance with the legal framework and specific regulations to ensure public order, respect for rights, freedom and confidence.
Also present in the induction ceremony was the administrator of the Baucau district, António A. Guterres, who showed his satisfaction for the establishment of the Regulatory Sub-Committee Martial Arts in Baucau, as this allows for the district to define and regulate the practice of martial arts created in Timor-Leste. Currently, the practice of martial arts in Timor, in particular, Kera-Sakti, Korka, Kempo and Perisasi Diri, is legally recognized by the Ministry of Justice.
