TIMOR GAP, E.P. and the National Petroleum Authority (ANP) participated in two international energy sector events in Thailand and Malaysia in September 2026, where they presented Timor-Leste’s petroleum and energy potential, investment opportunities, and prospects for cooperation with international companies and partners.

From September 14th to 17th, TIMOR GAP and ANP participated in Gastech 2026, held at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre in Bangkok, Thailand. The conference and exhibition brought together representatives from companies, governments, investors, and other international stakeholders across the natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), hydrogen, climate technology, and energy sectors.

The participation of the two institutions included conference sessions, presentations, roundtable discussions, bilateral meetings, and activities in the exhibition area, all aimed at promoting Timor-Leste’s energy resources and establishing contacts with potential investors and sector partners.

During the executive leadership panel titled “Growing Economies, Growing Demand: How Will the Next Industrial Era Be Powered?”, TIMOR GAP Director-General Sebastião Pereira discussed prospects for growth in LNG demand in Southeast Asia, driven by economic growth, industrialisation, electrification, and the expansion of digital infrastructure.

The participation in Gastech followed the presence of TIMOR GAP and ANP at Oil & Gas Asia (OGA) 2026, held from September 2nd to 4th at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia. During the event, the two institutions jointly organised the “Timor-Leste Business and Investment Forum”, dedicated to investment and business development opportunities in the national petroleum industry.

The Forum featured contributions from ANP, TIMOR GAP, TradeInvest Timor-Leste, and representatives of operators and service companies. ANP Vice-President for Stakeholder Engagement and Local Content Compliance, Quintino Pereira Bere, delivered the opening session, followed by remarks from Timor-Leste’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Lisualdo Gaspar. TIMOR GAP Vice-President for Technology and Asset Development, Domingos Lequisiga, delivered the closing remarks.

More than 100 participants, including government representatives, business leaders from ASEAN countries, and stakeholders from the oil and gas industry, attended the Forum, which provided an opportunity to present the conditions and opportunities for investment and business activities in Timor-Leste’s petroleum sector.

On the sidelines of OGA 2026, ANP also held a session with prospective Malaysian suppliers, bringing together more than 60 representatives from supplier and service companies. In the OGA exhibition area, ANP showcased Timor-Leste’s petroleum sector, ongoing operations, and investment opportunities. ANP Executive Director for Exploration and Development, Francelino Conceição, also participated in a Speak OGA session, where he presented investment opportunities in the oil and gas sector, the ongoing review of the legal and fiscal framework, and preparations for Timor-Leste’s next petroleum licensing round, scheduled for 2027.
