Vice Minister of Commerce Appears in a New Episode of the “Página do Governo” TV Show to Highlight the Government's Priorities in the Trade Sector
Dili, July 28th, 2026 – The Vice Minister of Commerce participated today in the recording of a new episode of the “Government Page” TV show, during which he discussed the Government’s priorities and the measures underway to strengthen the trade sector, support private-sector development, and promote sustainable economic growth in Timor-Leste.
During the interview, the Vice Minister explained that the Government’s top priorities for the trade sector are to ensure the availability of essential goods, strengthen the market system, promote fair competition, support local production, and establish a favourable business environment. These priorities are being implemented through institutional reforms to improve coordination among the relevant agencies and to foster ongoing engagement with the private sector.
Digital transformation is also part of the Ministry’s modernisation agenda. The Vice Minister explained that efforts are underway to expand digital public services, including online business licensing, improvements to the market information system, and digital platforms that facilitate access to information for entrepreneurs and investors.
Towards the end of the interview, the Vice Minister encouraged business leaders and economic operators to continue investing, innovating, and complying with national regulations. He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to working in partnership with the private sector to build a stronger, more competitive, and more inclusive economy that creates jobs and supports the development of a sustainable industrial sector in Timor-Leste.
The “Government Page” TV show, led by Agio Pereira, Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, is produced in partnership with Radio and Television of Timor-Leste (RTTL) and national media outlets to strengthen government transparency, accountability, and citizens’ access to information on the executive branch’s key decisions and policies.
The “Government Page” TV show features Nélia Chaves as the interviewer and Ika Moniz as the executive producer. It serves as a forum for institutional dialogue focused on the public interest, ensuring the public’s access to the Executive’s main actions and decisions. The “Government Page” TV show is recorded by RTTL and receives technical support from the communications teams of the Office of the Prime Minister, the Office of the President of the Council of Ministers, and the office of the government official being interviewed.
