The Guinea-Bissau head of the Government wanted to share experiences with his peer and consolidate the relationship between the two countries in the future.

During the time of occupation by the Indonesian military, in December of 1975, the Guinea-Bissau diplomatic mission had a very important contribution in the United Nations, regarding the decision to condemn the invasion carried out by the Indonesians. These two countries had the same history in the past and the same culture, what gives us very solid ties of friendship. For that, in this meeting we had the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences in a way to consolidate the relationship between both people and countries in the future”, revealed the Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão.
In the words of the Guinea-Bissau Prime Minister, Carlos Gomes Júnior, “Timor-Leste and Guinea-Bissau, had the same past, which was very difficult, but today have reached peace and liberty, and in this way we have the opportunity to exchange information regarding, also, the process of reform of the security and defence sector. In difficult times, we walked together in the United Nations corridors to defend Timor-Leste’s independence. Now we are here to strengthen the relationship between the two countries and their people”.
