SoSPE prepares women for the political life
On April 19, the Secretariat of State for Promotion of Equality (SoSPE) organized a meeting at the Delta Nova Room in Díli, which welcomed members of society and women from several political parties. The meeting’s objective was to talk about the possibility of candidature of women representatives of each political party to the 2012 elections, share civil society’s vision and the future program on the Promotion of Equality in Governance.
“This meeting aim is the 2012 elections, with the importance of Gender as a crucial factor in political participation. We invited an observer and the relevant organizations, so that together we could share ideas concerning the preparation that make it feasible for a Gender candidature in the next elections” stated the Secretary of State for Promotion of Equality, Idelta Rodrigues.
This first meeting counted with the presence of the UN WOMEN, Asia Foundation, IRI, gender representatives, the FRETILIN, CNRT, PD, PSD, PUN political parties and other international agencies.
