MoJ carried out a conference about the Regime to Regulate Property Ownership

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) carried out a conference about the Regime to Regulate Property Ownership, on Thursday, April 14, at the Judicial Training Centre, in Caicoli.
This Decree-Law aims to answer problems resulting from the data survey done by the National Directorate for Land, Property and Land Registry Services, together with the Project “Ita nia Rai”.
“With this data survey, 37.158 declarations were collected regarding 34.840 properties in the Aileu, Baucau, Bobonaro, Liquiça, Manatuto, Oe-Cusse Ambeno, Díli, Lautém, Ainaro and Covalima districts”, informed the Minister of Justice.
Of this data, 92% are in accordance with the relation property / ownership while 8% presents some irregularities. “This data come from the persons who delivered the declarations, based on their proof documents” highlighted the Minister.
The Decree-Law presented by Lúcia Lobato recognizes the right to land, for citizens who delivered the declarations, so that they can register what belongs to them.
Taking into account the importance of the issue, in his intervention, the President of the National Parliament, Fernando “Lasama” de Araújo said: “I will approach the issue with the National Parliament Commission A, to pay attention to the Land Law that is already in the National Parliament to be discussed before the 2012 State General Budget debate”.
