The Ministry of Economy and Development (MoED), through the Institute for Business Development Support (Portuguese acronym IADE) signed on Monday, April 11, at the Hotel Timor, a Memorandum of Understanding with the Timor-Leste Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TL-CoCI), in which both cooperate for private sector development.

“The Government and the TL-CoCI are aware that small companies are the development machines, and the creation of sustainable working posts. Because of that, the Government and the TL-CoCI commit to face the challenges and difficulties that obstruct development” said the Minister of Economy and Development, João Mendes Gonçalves.

The Minister also added, that the objective of the signature of this Memorandum of Understanding is to give capacity to the Timor-Leste Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the priority areas, so that the private sector can better develop itself, contributing in this way for national development.

In the ceremony, the President of the Timor-Leste Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Júlio Alfaro, thanked the government’s support in the training area that was given to the private sector, since it allows for a better participation in the country’s development.
