Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers meets with representatives from the U.S. Embassy
The Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Agio Pereira, met with the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in Timor-Leste, Bruce Begnell, accompanied by the head of the Political, Economic, and Consular sections of the American diplomatic mission, Rodney LeGrand. The meeting took place at the Government Palace in Dili to discuss various issues of mutual interest in the context of bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, the Minister and the diplomat discussed matters related to institutional cooperation and defence. They also examined the ongoing administrative decentralisation process, particularly measures aimed at strengthening municipal powers and consolidating local administration.
The dialogue also covered regional issues, including preparations for assuming the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2029 and initiatives concerning Timor-Leste's involvement in multilateral mechanisms.
Discussions also covered ongoing efforts to strengthen the legal and institutional framework in cybersecurity and combat cybercrime, along with mechanisms for interinstitutional coordination in this area.
The parties also exchanged views on the national economic situation, including structural projects like the development of the Greater Sunrise project and measures aimed at enhancing the investment environment.
