The Minister of Trade and Industry, Filipus Nino Pereira, will be the interviewee on the 10th edition of the “Página do Governo” program, which will be broadcast this Friday, August 8, at 20:00, on Radio and Television of Timor-Leste (RTTL) and on digital platforms.
In this interview, the Minister stressed that “the economy is a fundamental pillar for improving the well-being of the country and the people, and that is why we have defined priorities”. The minister also pointed out that “institutional development focuses on how we can strengthen institutional capacities, in terms of human resources and the coordination of the cooperation we develop with all entities”.
Nino Pereira stressed that the Ministry is making a huge effort, especially in terms of legislative action. He believes that this is very important to ensure and promote a good business environment, both in the commercial and industrial sectors. For this reason, the government has already approved a number of Decree-Laws in this area.
“Another priority was our accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the current process of joining ASEAN,” said the minister, noting that “in the legislative package, we managed to pass 14 Decree-Laws, which are very important for strengthening our commercial and industrial activities.”
Finally, the Minister presented a vision for the future of our country's commercial and industrial sectors, saying that this vision allows for more investment and more market opportunities, and this is a strength for the Timorese.
"That's why we need to organize and prepare ourselves better, and motivate our private sector, because this is an opportunity. We need to have a strong business network when we enter global competition," he said.
