Timor-Leste and Australia to Hold Conference to Strengthen Economic and Business Relations

The Government of Timor-Leste, through the Vice Prime-Minister and Minister Coordinator for Economic Affairs, in partnership with the Government of Australia, and with the support of TradeInvest Timor-Leste and the Timor-Leste Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will host the second edition of the Timor-Leste - Australia 2025 Economic and Business Conference on August 7th to 8th at the Dili Convention Center.
The event aims to deepen economic and business relations between the two countries by promoting direct dialogue between business leaders, investors and political decision-makers, with special emphasis on four priority sectors for national development: agriculture, tourism, manufacturing and processing, and mineral resources.
During the conference there will be two thematic sessions per day. The first day will be dedicated to tourism and agriculture, while the second day will cover the manufacturing and processing industry and the mineral and petroleum resources sector, including a panel on Timor-Leste's membership of ASEAN.
The conference will be attended by around 300 Timorese and Australian business leaders, and 40 companies are expected to exhibit their products at the trade fair parallel to the event.
Among the confirmed speakers are prominent figures in the region, such as Nicholas Moore, Australia's Special Envoy for Southeast Asia, and Shane Walden, Australia's Business Leader for Timor-Leste, whose interventions will contribute to the debate on economic cooperation and sustainable development, reinforcing the importance of this initiative as a space for partnerships and new business opportunities.
The conference will also be an opportunity for participants to explore new partnerships, establish business networks and deepen their understanding of the potential for economic cooperation between the two countries. It is also intended to generate contributions that reinforce and support the agenda of economic reforms geared towards the private sector, in line with the Government of Timor-Leste's commitment to promote sustainable growth and diversification of the national economy.
