The Ministry of Tourism, Commerce and Industry (MTCI), installed a tourism post (on-line multimedia) in the Nicolau Lobato airport, in Díli, to facilitate access to information to foreign tourists that travel to Timor-Leste.

The post’s inauguration was directed by the Minister of Tourism, Commerce and Industry, Gil Alves accompanied by the MTCI General-Director, Georgina Manuela Côrte-Real.

The post offers information about existent tourist areas in Timor-Leste. The information will be available in two languages, Portuguese and English.

After the inauguration, the Minister Gil Alves made it known that this is the first of several tourism posts that should be placed in strategic places, to facilitate information to tourists. “Until now tourists had difficulties in accessing information about Timor-Leste’s tourism. From now on, with these equipments, the situation will change, and the increase of tourism benefits the community and the Government” highlighted the Minister of Tourism, Commerce and Industry.

According to the MTCI Director of Tourism, José Dias Quintas, a touristic map was made, one that identifies several locations of interest in the territory, which the Government intends to develop. “In 2011 we will develop the tourism area better, specially what concerns human resources capacity and community tourism, among other things”, said José Dias Quintas.
