The Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alberto Carlos, representing the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zacarias Albano da Costa, signed last week a contract for the construction of the Centre for Diplomatic Studies (Portuguese acronym CED).

The future Diplomatic Studies Centre will be constructed in the same block of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, since a space had already been reserved for that purpose.

The IPPR company of the People’s Republic of China, will be in charge of the construction of this building, offered by the Chinese Government, and in April next year will send a team of technicians to do the land evaluation.

In the CED installations adequate training will be given to the Timorese diplomats so they can better serve the country’s interests, through diplomacy.

In his speech, Alberto Carlos specially referred: “it is with great satisfaction that I sign this contract, which its result will improve the training quality of our diplomats.”
