Government Launches Podcast to Disseminate Laws and Public Policies to the Public

The Office of Vice-Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Adérito Hugo da Costa, has officially launched the new Parliamentary Affairs Podcast, an initiative whose main objective is to enhance the public's understanding of the legislation passed by the Government and the National Parliament. As well as promoting a more informed citizenry, the project aims to strengthen the link between citizens and democratic institutions, contributing to a more conscious and active participation in public life. The launching ceremony took place on June 10th, 2025, at the Government Palace, and was attended by members of the Government and the National Parliament. WhatsApp Image 2025-06-10 at 16.00.55

In his speech, the Vice-Minister of Parliamentary Affairs said that “this initiative further strengthens the collective effort to promote active public participation in State decisions and public policies, at the service of our nation and our people”. WhatsApp Image 2025-06-10 at 16.00.59

President of Commission A of the National Parliament, responsible for Constitutional Affairs and Justice, Mr. Patrocínio Fernandes dos Reis, praised the project, considering it “brilliant” for “allowing more citizens to participate in the development process, above all by providing a space for the exchange of ideas on the public policies drawn up by the Government and Parliament”. WhatsApp Image 2025-06-10 at 16.00.58

Promoted by the Parliamentary Affairs Office, the Parliamentary Affairs Podcast aims to be an accessible and regular platform for clarifying public policies and legislative decisions that directly affect the daily lives of citizens. Through conversations with MPs, members of the Government, specialists and citizens, the program aims to bring the institutions closer to the population, promoting transparency, democratic debate and political literacy. The Podcast will be available on the website and social networks of the Office of Vice-Minister of Parliamentary Affairs. WhatsApp Image 2025-06-10 at 16.00.56

This initiative joins other institutional communication projects launched by the IX Constitutional Government, such as the program of Página do Governo, promoted by the Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, with the aim of strengthening the relationship between the Executive and the population and fostering closer, more participatory and effective channels of dialogue. WhatsApp Image 2025-06-10 at 16.01.02

The launch of the Parliamentary Affairs Podcast was also attended by the Secretary of State for Social Communication, Expedito Dias Ximenes, MPs António Verdial de Sousa, Duarte Nunes and Manuel Henrique Noronha, as well as the Coordinator of the Parliamentary Affairs Office.

With this initiative, the Government is reinforcing its commitment to modernizing institutional  communication and consolidating participatory democracy, in order to ensure that all citizens have access to information and can actively contribute to the country's development. END
