Technical Training for Fuel Pump Inspections

The Ministry of Tourism, Commerce and Industry (MTCI), through the General Inspection of food and economic activities, has done a three day training on technical checking of fuel pumps, for 15 staff members, in the Conference Room of the old Díli Market.
To carry out the training, the MTCI invited two technical representatives from “Dinas Perindustrian dan Perdagangan” from the Indonesia province of Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT).
The training‘s purpose was to capacitate the civil servants, so they can control the fuel pumps throughout Timor-Leste, with the purpose of defending consumer rights.
The MTCI General-Director, Manuela Corte Real, in her speech at the opening of the training, on the 15 November, recognized that, in Timor-Leste, there is minimum knowledge about the control of fuel pumps and asked the participants to make the most of the training: “If you do not take the most of this opportunity, you are the ones who will lose, because this training, facilitated by the Government, is useful for your future, both individually and for the institution, or else more difficulties are created regarding the work, that will affect the public”.
At the same occasion, the NTT trainer, Tri Daryono, showed himself pleased with the cooperation between Timor-Leste and Indonesia and, on his country’s behalf, thanked Timor-Leste for the possibility to carry out this training and at the same time deepen the cooperation between both countries, which he hopes may cooperate more and better in the future.
