More Timorese scholarship holders for the Philippines

Another fifteen Timorese students obtained scholarships, from the Ministry of Education, to study in the Philippines. Thus, the number of Timorese students subsidized by the Timor-Leste Government which are studying in that Southeast Asia country, increases to 124.
Of these fifteen scholarship students that set off on the 16th of October, ten are FALINTIL – Timor-Leste Defence Armed Forces elements (F-FDTL) and five belong to the Timor-Leste National Police (PNTL). The ten F-FDTL elements plus two from PNTL, will take the Pilot degree. The remaining three students from PNTL will take a Law degree, with speciality in the crime area.
Before beggining their university studies, the students will attend an english intensive course, during seven months.
At the farewell ceremony the Ministry of Education made it known that the accommodation of these students will be under his Ministry’s responsibility. João Câncio Freitas appealed to the students to dedicate themselves to the studies so as to better serve their Country when they return.
Titi Domingos Guterres, F-FDTL scholarship holder, promised to make the best of this opportunity, guaranteeing that when he came back, he will stay in the Institution to serve the People and the Timor-Leste Nation.
