Tatoli's new Chairman of the Board of Directors takes office
On January 10th, 2025, the Secretary of State for Social Communication, Expedito Dias Ximenes, swore in Noémio Mateus Soares Falcão as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tatoli - Agência Noticiosa de Timor-Leste, I.P., at a ceremony held at the Government Palace. Noémio Falcão's appointment, approved by the Council of Ministers on December 11th, 2024, gives him a four-years mandate.
During the ceremony, the Secretary of State for Social Communication emphasized Tatoli's strategic role and called on the new president to strengthen the institution, transforming it into a true news agency, capable of “providing information to other national, regional and international media”.
Noémio Falcão pledged to lead the institution “with the utmost impartiality, dedication and responsibility and to always give due consideration to the interests of the State”. In his speech, he emphasized his commitment to consolidating Tatoli as an official information provider, both nationally and internationally.
Noémio Falcão has held various positions in the field of communication and journalism, including Production Manager and Editor at Timor Post, and Editor-in-Chief between 2015 and 2019. More recently, he was Media Advisor at the Secretary of State for Social Communication.
The ceremony was attended, among others, by the Secretary of State for Equality, Elvina de Carvalho, the President of the Board of Directors of Rádio e Televisão de Timor-Leste, José Belo, leaders of private media organizations and Tatoli employees.
On March 7th, 2017, the Council of Ministers approved the creation of TATOLI - Agência Noticiosa de Timor-Leste, IP, with the agency's main objective “to be a source of official information, producing information for a national, regional and international audience”.
