Government of Timor-Leste

The Timor-Leste Investment and Export Promotion Agency, I.P. (TradeInvest), attended the 8^th ASEAN Business Conference (SABC 2024), held on July 25^th and 26^th 2024 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia. The event was attended by Ezaquiel Babo, Director of Investment Promotion at TradeInvest, as one of the keynote speakers. 

The Conference centred on ASEAN’s main challenges, such as market access, regional economic integration and the promotion of entrepreneurship. SABC 2024 brought together 20 speakers from across the ASEAN region, 500 participants and 200 international delegates from 23 countries.

On the second day of the event, Ezaquiel Babo presented the topic ‘Trade and Investment Opportunities in Timor-Leste in the context of ASEAN integration’. During his speech, he highlighted the investment opportunities in Timor-Leste, with especial emphasis on the food industry, agriculture, tourism, strategic infrastructures and other promising sectors.

At the same time, TradeInvest also took part in the 4^th Selangor Investment Industrial Park (SPARK) 2024 exhibition, which took place from July 25^th to 27^th 2024, also at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. This annual event is dedicated to promoting investment opportunities and industrial development, bringing together governments, investors, entrepreneurs and industry professionals. 

The TradeInvest delegation, led by the Director Ezaquiel Babo, also included External Relations and Communications Manager Bernardete Maria Afonso do Santos, Export Promotion Manager Josefina Correia Araújo and Professional Technician Maria José Fernandes and Brigida Soares da Silva.
