The partnership aims to strengthen the capacities of the National Action Plan 1325 structure for effective implementation, coordination and monitoring of the Women, Peace and Security agenda, provide technical support to involve young people and local communities in non-violent conflict prevention and social cohesion, with a particular focus on women, and promote women's participation and leadership in conflict prevention and resolution, with the strengthening of community-based and gender-sensitive peacebuilding processes.

UN Women's Head of Office in Timor-Leste, Nishtha Satyam, also expressed her enthusiasm for the agreement, stating that this partnership represents a major step forward in our collective efforts with the Ministry of Interior to promote gender equality and peace in Timor-Leste.
