Government of Timor-Leste

On June 25^th, 2024, in Kuala Lumpur, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, accompanied by Timor-Leste's Ambassador to Malaysia, Lisualdo Gaspar, visited the Malaysian state-owned oil and gas company Petronas. As part of his official visit to the country, he attended a presentation on the evolution of oil and gas exploration, both onshore and offshore. 

Petronas, a state-owned institution established in 1974, has vast 50 years of experience in offshore and onshore oil and gas production. It maintains a solid and positive relationship with the world market. This success is partly due to the consistent political support of the Government of Malaysia. 

Minister Bendito dos Santos Freitas emphasised Malaysia's willingness, through Petronas, to invite Timor-Leste's Minister of Petroleum, Resources and Minerals to visit and share experiences in the petroleum industry.
