Government and Vatican continue preparations for Pope Francis’ possible visit
The High-Level Institutional Coordinator for the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis, Minister Agio Pereira, held a meeting with the Representative of the Holy See in Timor-Leste, Monsignor Marco Sprizzi, on February 19th, 2024, at the Government Palace in Dili.
The meeting aimed to take stock of the preparations underway for the Holy Father's visit to Timor-Leste, as well as to discuss the subsequent initiatives to be carried out to ensure the success of this visit.
On February 12th, Monsignor Marco Sprizzi revealed that, although "it is not yet possible to confirm a date", "the Timorese Government is making excellent preparations" and thanked "on behalf of the Holy See" "for the enormous, excellent, competent and efficient work that is being done to prepare for the Pope's possible visit to Timor-Leste".
