New President of the Board of the National Institute of Social Security takes office
The Minister of Social Solidarity and Inclusion, Verónica das Dores, accompanied by Vice-Minister Céu Brites, swore in Arlindo Pinto for a three-year term as President of the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS – acronym in Portuguese) and inherently also President of the Board of the Social Security Reserve Fund. 
The swearing-in ceremony occurred at the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion in Dili on February 16th.
Arlindo Pinto’s appointment was approved through a Government Resolution, which emphasises his “recognised suitability” and highlights his professional career, "which gives him the knowledge, technical training and qualified experience that presuppose his ability to lead and substantiate the suitability of his profile for the performance of the position mentioned above". 
Dulce Natividade da Cunha and Solange de Fátima Borges, following a proposal from the member of the Government responsible for social solidarity, Sansão Gomes, representing the employers, and Almério Vila Nova Gouveia, representing the workers, were also sworn in as members of the INSS Board of Directors, for a three years’ term.
During her speech at the ceremony, Minister Verónica das Dores highlighted the mission of the new structure, which should be geared towards optimising the system for managing and administering social security services and improving the system for implementing and managing investment in the Social Security Reserve Fund. 
Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão called on the new INSS structure to work responsibly and honestly to manage people’s financial resources.
Other members of the 9th Constitutional Government, representatives of the National Parliament, the Presidency of the Republic, the Diplomatic Corps, development partners and religious denominations also attended the ceremony.
