103 houses for social-housing are inaugurated in Baucau, Manatuto and Viqueque

The Ministry for Social Solidarity carried out the sixth social-housing inauguration in the Districts of Baucau, Manatuto and Viqueque, on the 23rd of July.

In total, 103 houses were inaugurated: 34 in the Baucau District, which cost the State 126,343.96 american dollars: 34 in the Viqueque District, with a total value of 136 thousand American dollars: and 35 in the Manatuto District, with the total of 134,679.00 american dollars. The companies that constructed them were Uhakae from Viqueque, Planato Star from Baucau and Maklaik Unipessoal from Manatuto.

“These houses are destined to those who really need them, and must be used in an adequate way to maintain them in good condition for a very long time” stated the Minister for Social Solidarity, during the ceremony. Maria Domingas Alves launched an appeal to the chefes de suco and the district authorities “not to create favouritism in regards to the beneficiaries, since all citizens should enjoy the same rights”.

According to the Minister, the construction of social-housing will continue in 2011. The projects are already planned and predict the construction of 450 houses in all districts, including 28 sub-districts and 50 sucos. The total cost for the execution of this measure is around a million and eight hundred dollars, amount that is already included in the State Budget for 2009.
